Russell and Verstappen have dominated Free Practice 1 and 2 respectively

The Mercedes have taken advantage of the last minutes of free practice to dethrone the RedBull and put Russell and Hamilton at the controls. We will see what happens in the free seconds that will start in two hours.

There is no time for more! Some drivers are finishing the last laps of these first free practice sessions of the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix. Russell, Hamilton, Leclerc, Verstappen and Sainz. Alonso has finished seventh.

Verstappen is well above the rest in these first fifteen minutes of free practice. Nobody except him and Hamilton go down from 1:33.

Alonso and Carlos Sainz are already there. They are all well placed. Verstappen, with the best time, with that 1:32.4; Hamilton, second; Checo Pérez, third; Alonso, fourth; and Carlos Sainz, fifth.

Note that Russell is changing the steering box due to some vibrations. He is out of his car, waiting to fully enter free practice.

Checo Pérez wants to assault Verstappen’s lead. He is just six points behind, even though they have both won two races. Checho did it in Arabia and Baku and Vertsappen did it in Bahrain and Australia. Pérez is no longer interested in the supporting role.

First seven minutes of free practice in Miami. Verstappen leads them with the best time (1:34.054), ahead of Hamilton and his teammate Checo Pérez.
