Michael P. (32) is said to have cheated old people. With two older Berlin ladies, however, he bit his teeth out.

He takes out old people. Michael P. (32) brings her with his peers without batting an eyelash to the savings. His profession: grandchildren trickster.

District Court, room 621. That’s the grandchildren’s trick: old people often still have landline phones. The gangsters look through the phone books. Search for old first names. Then suddenly the phone rings.

Often the caller says slyly, “Guess who’s calling you!” The trickster is waiting for a name. Then says: “Yes, exactly, dear grandma, I’m in trouble, I need a lot of money quickly!”

Tall stories are told (had an accident, gotten sick, cheap real estate bargains). And there is always someone nearby who can pick up cash and valuables immediately. Thousands fall for it every year.

Michael P. is said to have been a logistician for such a gang. The backers are in Poland. According to the indictment, the attempt to outsmart a woman from Wilmersdorf (81) failed in the summer of 2019 – the old lady simply hung up. A woman from Spandau (88) allowed herself to be persuaded and wanted to hand over 108,000 euros. However, she had dementia and had forgotten that she had no more money in the house.

“There were over 60 case files at the time,” recalls an investigator (47). Only the bugged phones of criminals in Poland prevented worse. The accused wants to confess. But only if he gets released for it. The prosecutor wants a total sentence of at least five years. Judgment on June 17th.
