This card game gets under your skin

For a very special poker hand, two Berlin tattoos were stung on himself and 50 other people around the world.

Actually, there is no stabbing in poker, but in this variant it is…

Gerhard Muthenthaler (49) and Marijan Jordan (49) found people all over the world who each had a playing card tattooed on them. A crowdfunding campaign is now supposed to bring the “Real Inked Project” to the real poker table.

The first lockdown brought her to the curious project. At that time they had to close their inventor shop. Jordan: “Then we had time to implement our own crazy ideas.”

Two years later, they launched the world’s largest tattoo collaboration project. By the way, the two (until then completely untattooed) Berlin residents Muthenthaler and Jordan from Austria had their first two tattoos done themselves.

“In the beginning we tried to find 52 candidates among our circle of friends and acquaintances, but nobody wanted to be the first,” says Jordan. “So we wrote to artists all over the world,” says Jordan.

In the end, more than a hundred artists and models from South Africa, China, Korea, South America, the USA and even Berlin were there. They had cards engraved in a wide variety of styles, which were then photographed and made into playing cards.

Game was funded via crowdfunding

The two inventors now want to realize and produce their card game via Kickstarter. Around 4800 euros have already come together, the two have set themselves a goal of 9000 euros – for 1000 decks of cards.

The game alone in one of the two colors red or black can be bought for 28 euros. The book with information on the respective artists costs 27 euros.

Muthenthaler: “The edition is limited, after all it’s still an art project and not a mass product.”

By the way: “The joker is still open, we welcome suggestions,” say the inventors. Anyone can participate on Instagram using the hashtag #realinkedproject.
