This Breda company ensures that you want to collect pictures at the supermarket

Collecting pictures of the local sports club or the history of a city or village: it is all the rage at local supermarkets. And those pictures? These come from the Local Loyalty Group from Breda. “The commotion that arises is unprecedented,” says Roy Spitters.

Save for weeks, exchange in the store or on social media and then fill up the collection album. People in Den Bosch have been busy with it in recent weeks. At several supermarkets in the municipality, people could collect pictures to fill their collection album about the history of Den Bosch.

Why are these campaigns so popular? “It is very accessible,” Spitters explains. “People just have to go shopping to collect the pictures.”

But the actions go further than just saving in the local supermarket. Spitters: “Everyone does a lot to help each other get those stickers. People are constantly exchanging. They visit each other. They really have the feeling: this is where I come from and I am proud of that.”

“It’s really become all the rage.”

Wesley van Oort, manager at one of the Jumbo supermarkets in Den Bosch where the pictures are available, also notices this. “We have distributed more than 3,000 books in our store alone. 3.5 million pictures have already been distributed throughout Den Bosch. It has really become a craze.”

According to Van Oort, such a campaign will become increasingly popular with customers over time. “You really see all kinds of things emerging. People wait at the cash register to ask others for pictures. Facebook pages have been set up. It really is very much alive.”

Ini Jonkergouw is one of the enthusiastic collectors. She walks into the store every day and has already collected four books. “I do it together with my daughter-in-law.”

“I’m a widow and this is a nice distraction.”

Why is she saving? “I really enjoy collecting. I am a widow and this is a nice distraction. We exchange a lot and also help others with pictures. For example, I am currently looking for number 115 for someone. I had found 151, but then it turned out that it was should be 115.”

Ini Jonkergouw has already collected four books full of the pictures.
