The KNMI has announced code orange for Friday afternoon in South Limburg. The weather institute warns of the risk of large hailstones and heavy wind gusts of 90 to more than 100 k/m per hour.

Falling trees, flying objects and lightning strikes can cause damage, according to the KNMI. Rijkswaterstaat warns that traffic can also experience a lot of hindrance.

Code orange for Limburg applies from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. At the end of the afternoon the showers will move towards Germany.

Code yellow for Brabant and Gelderland

Around noon, heavy rain and thunderstorms will move across the country from southwest to northeast. Regionally, a lot of rain can fall in a short time. The KNMI has issued code yellow for the provinces of Noord-Brabant and Gelderland.
