Third world title in a row for Dutch hockey players after a win over Argentina

The Dutch women’s team has become world hockey champion for the third time in a row. The final against Argentina was won 3-1. Maria Verschoor, Frédérique Matla and Felice Albers scored for the Dutch team.

In the second quarter of the game, Verschoor opened the score and Matla quickly made it 2-0. The Dutch team came in 3-0 via Albers, after which Argentina saved the honor for her country via Agustina Gorzelany. Last year, the Netherlands also played against Argentina in the final and the final also ended in 3-1.

The Dutch women’s team has now won twelve world titles. The final against Argentina is the last game of interim national coach Jamilon Mülders. Mülders was the temporary successor to Alyson Annan, who was fired last year after a dispute with the hockey association. Paul van Ass will be the successor of Mülders as the new national coach.
