FC Bayern Munich have signed South Korean central defender Min-jae Kim. The 26-year-old comes from SSC Napoli for around 50 million euros. The Munich team announced the commitment of their preferred central defender on Tuesday.

FC Bayern Munich has made the signing of South Korean Min-Jae Kim perfect. The 26-year-old defender comes from the Italian soccer champions SSC Naples and has signed a five-year contract on the Isar until the summer of 2028. Accordingly, Kim, who had an exit clause in his contract, is moving for a fixed fee of 50 million euros.

Kim impresses with his physique, mentality and speed

“FC Bayern is every footballer’s dream. I’m really looking forward to everything that awaits me in Munich. For me it means a new beginning, I will continue to develop here,” says the newcomer, who will wear the number three shirt in the future, in a press release. “He impresses with his physical presence as well as with his mentality and speed. We’re happy that he can get straight into the preparations and we’re convinced that his style of play will impress our fans as well,” commented CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen on the new signing.

Third newcomer from Munich

Kim, nicknamed “Monster” in Italy because of his 1.90 meter height, is set to replace Frenchman Lucas Hernández, who has moved to Paris Saint-Germain. In the future, he will form the Bavarian central defense together with the Dutchman Matthijs de Ligt. Kim is the Bundesliga club’s third newcomer after Konrad Laimer and Raphael Guerreiro.
