White powder and bananas: Once again, the police in Brandenburg have to go to a fruit dealer in Groß Kreutz (Potsdam-Mittelmark) because a delivery of cocaine apparently ended up there by mistake. According to the police it is 500 kilograms!
Another major operation for the Brandenburg police. Investigators searched the warehouse from 8 a.m. on Tuesday and seized suspicious packages.
“The affected company from Groß Kreutz informed the police again independently on Tuesday morning after suspicious-looking packages were found in the load when banana boxes were delivered,” said police spokeswoman Stefanie Klaus on Wednesday.
Your colleagues were on duty on Tuesday to find, sift through and transport the drugs. According to the police, a total of 500 kilos of cocaine were found – and then destroyed. 70 emergency services were involved.
The fruit dealer in Groß Kreutz hit the headlines back in March. The reason: An employee discovered suspicious-looking packages between banana boxes. In the end it was 1200 kilograms of cocaine! The street value: almost 100 million euros! It was by far the largest drug discovery in Brandenburg.
Last August, around 660 kilograms of cocaine were discovered in banana crates at Fruchthof Werder. Street value: 50 million euros. The dealer apparently involuntarily repeatedly becomes a transshipment point for South American drug cartels. For comparison: The largest cocaine discovery was made in Berlin in 2013, when 140 kilograms of the drug turned up in a supermarket – also in banana crates.
Investigators from the Brandenburg State Criminal Police Office (LKA) now have to clarify again how and why the drug ended up at Fruchthof Werder. It is clear that Groß Kreutz is only a stopover – the deliveries are intended for several federal states.
The discovery of the drug packages is classified by the investigators as a mishap. Accidental discoveries are already counted as losses by the drug cartels.
