Things remain uneasy at NAC Breda: general manager Henk Valk is leaving

Football club NAC Breda said goodbye to general manager Henk Valk (60) with immediate effect on Friday. In a conversation with Henk van Koeveringe, chairman of the Supervisory Board, Valk indicated that he will stop his work at the first division club with immediate effect. Valk had only been employed by NAC for six months. The club reports the departure on its website.

During the conversation it became clear that Henk Valk and the NAC board differed too much in their views. It was decided to stop immediately. “We would have liked to see it differently,” says Van Koeveringe. “But during the conversation we did not come to a different conclusion. We highly appreciate Henk Valk’s attitude. We regret that things turned out this way and wish him every success in his further career. We will of course also discuss the last six months internally. Our club deserves stable waters.”

Henk Valk also thinks it’s a shame that things turned out this way. “I joined the club with dedication and with the best intentions, but I noticed that that was not enough. It is a shame if your vision and that of a large organization do not match. It did not work sufficiently and then you have to take responsibility “I am leaving as director, but I will remain a supporter of NAC.” The former Philips CEO joined the club from the Kitchen Champion Division on June 1.

Uneasy at NAC
With the departure of the general manager, things remain uneasy at NAC. During the winter break, trainer Jean-Paul van Gastel indicated that he wanted to leave the Breda club to become assistant to Giovanni van Bronckhorst. He was in the picture for a coaching position at the Turkish Besiktas. NAC kept the trainer to his contract. Besiktas then chose another trainer.
