Clara and Olav, owners of the camping ‘De Heerlijkheid’, are in disbelief about the robbery of three luxurious shower cabins. At De Heerlijkheid you can camp in a more luxurious way, including private sanitary facilities in the tent. That is why six tents are equipped with a luxurious shower cabin with rain shower. Thieves expertly disassembled and stole three cabins from the tents.
Owner Clara van de Heerlijkheid can hardly comprehend it. There is also sadness and anger. Because exactly one year they are busy turning a former farm into a beautiful place to stay for holidaymakers. The tents are in a meadow on the edge of a forest. The luxury shower cubicles are the showpiece of the campsite, Clara says. In addition, the thieves also took sinks, pans, hobs and bed linen. Clara fears they’ll come back to finish the job.
The way in which the cabins have been dismantled shows that they must be experts and professionals. Only a few snakes remind us that there was once a shower cubicle. The thieves did take the shower head from one of the tents where the cabin is still standing. On the field at the edge of the forest they could go about their business undisturbed. A tent, you can easily enter it, although Clara is now thinking about an alarm against theft.
Clara hopes to have the shower cubicles replaced before the new camping season, which starts in April. But given the costs and the sometimes long delivery times of building materials, she is not yet sure whether this will work. The damage is estimated at a minimum of 7,000 euros. Tire tracks indicate that the thieves came to the campground through a meadow so they could avoid the main entrance. The damage cannot be recovered from an insurer because you cannot insure tents against theft.
