When the theft figures of all vehicles are combined, Heerlen comes out the worst in relative terms with 14.5 thefts per 10,000 inhabitants. That municipality is followed by Valkenburg aan de Geul (14.2), Meerssen (13.5), Beek (12.6), Brunssum (12.6), Gulpen-Wittem (12.0), Beekdaelen (11.7 ) and Maastricht (11.2). Northern and central Limburg appears to be considerably less interesting for thieves.
