Thieves have been stealing coins from dumpsters for months

The police were able to arrest two suspects thanks to the deployment of night patrols. Spokesperson Hélène Ingels: “On the night of September 14 to 15, the perpetrators struck again. We immediately conducted a search and arrested two suspects. It concerns a 48-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, both living in Nieuwpoort. During the search, part of the stolen loot, 118 one-euro coins, was found. During interrogation, the men made partial confessions.”

The West Flanders public prosecutor’s office, Veurne department, demanded a judicial investigation after which both men were arrested.
