Dominic Thiem was very pleased with his first win on the tennis court in many months.
“A very, very nice feeling that I haven’t had for a long time,” said the 28-year-old Austrian after his first round victory at the Salzburg ATP Challenger tournament about compatriot Filip Misolic. For the 2020 US Open winner, it was the first win after 419 days.
“It was generally difficult, I knew that I had to perform well. And I managed to do that for the most part,” said the former number three in the world rankings, who is currently 346th after a long-term hand injury: “But the most important thing was that I could get that across the finish line.” Thiem’s next opponent on Thursday is Argentine Facundo Bagnis.
