Thief makes off with a tip jar of Brownies & downieS Assen

They are in sackcloth at lunch restaurant Brownies & downieS in Assen. A thief took the tip jar yesterday.

“An English-speaking man ordered a coffee to go around 11 a.m. And when I turned around to make the order, he must have put the tip jar in his bag within thirty seconds,” says owner Peter Potjer.

“We are really disappointed about it, because it is a very special tip jar in the shape of a hamburger sandwich,” he says. “It was a farewell gift from one of our special employees. He had been with us from the beginning.”

The girl moved to an institution in Haren, and that could no longer be combined with work in Assen. “She loved hamburgers,” says Potjer. “That’s what she was known for among us.”

When her parents asked about a farewell gift, the staff didn’t have to think long, because they could use a nice tip jar. “And on her last day, she arrived with a hamburger tip jar.”

At the time of the theft, the pot contained approximately one hundred euros. “A significant amount,” says Potjer. “We save the money from the pot to do fun things with the whole team twice a year. We have already gone climbing in Grolloo once, and we have also done glow in the dark bowling. We have to Now save a little longer for the next outing.”
