“My former teachers can’t believe their eyes when they read that I do scientific research,” says Thibeau Bastien (27) and you can see how proud he is – rightly so. Because the young man from Mortsel has an intellectual disability and no one used to think he could do more than spend his days in a day center. “But I never believed that myself. I am good at interviewing, I have language skills and I am very good with the computer. While I was refused computer lessons at school.” And oh yes, Thibeau is also a great athlete.
