Thibaut Courtois is flooded with comments on his Instagram page. The Real Madrid and Belgium goalkeeper had expressed his support for family and friends in Israel following the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Now he is being bombarded by messages from both camps.
The conflict between Israel and Palestine is also being fought on Thibaut Courtois’ Instagram account. The 31-year-old goalkeeper married Israeli model Mishel Gerzig (26) this summer and therefore has a direct link with Israel. After the Hamas attack and Israel’s retaliation, Courtois posted a message on his Instagram Stories.
“I am deeply saddened by the current situation. My sincere love and support go out to my friends and family in Israel, with the hope that this nightmare will soon come to an end,” Courtois said.
The message provoked many reactions. To such an extent that Courtois’s photos on Instagram and X, the former Twitter, are flooded by thousands of messages. Courtois’ wife Mishel Gerzig also referred to the conflict in the Middle East on her channels. “This is not about Palestine and Israel. It’s about humanity. Hamas is a terrorist organization that kills anyone who gets in their way. Also who is Palestinian.”
“They are against anyone who is not like them – white, gay or Jewish. There is no explanation for those gruesome videos of Hamas militants killing people in cold blood and then laughing and dancing on dead bodies. Anyone who supports Hamas supports inhumanities.”
