The Argentine duo celebrates their 11-year career with an international tour that stops in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Bilbao
A song and a sunset united Julia Ortiz and Lola Aguirre 11 years ago. They were in Cabo Polonia (Uruguay) about to enter the night when, suddenly, a melody took center stage. They had left the big city a long time ago to see each other in front of the sea, hence they let themselves be carried away simply by chance. Over time that harmony took the name of Laugh Chinitobut then it was simply a song to the present that someone recorded almost unexpectedly.
The topic became one of the first viral phenomena of YouTube after accumulating more than 30 million views. without intending it, the Argentine duo had planted the roots of what is now Perotá Chingó: a musical phenomenon that, this April, will recreate that postcard in Spain.
“We want to celebrate an 11-year cycle with all the people who have received us from the first day with so much respect and love,” says Lola. To which Julia adds: “We haven’t traveled to Europe for a long time. With the pandemic we could not, so we are eager to meet the public again & rdquor ;. Total, four dates in which they will play the most requested songs from their three albums and two edited epés: Madrid (April 11, The Music Station), Barcelona (14, Palace of Music), Bilbao (12, Café Antzokia) and Valencia (16, La Rambleta Theatre).
The complicity, Strange beings, longing for iruya, time is after and The plants grow up are five of his most listened to compositions, which in Spotify attract more than 585,000 monthly listeners. “Each capacity has its particularity, its own way of approaching the artist. I remember that, in Sweden and Switzerland, the audience seemed very distant initially… but, once we got into the dynamic of the concert, they were super loving. It all depends on the chemistry that is generated & rdquor ;, explains Lola.
In this decade, they have shared the stage with names such as djavan, lenin, caesar boy, fernando cabrera, Joss Stone, Anita Tijoux, chambao… “One of the things we like the most is the closeness of the Europeans. In South America, the feeling is one of fanaticism. However, they treat us as equals there. And that is very nice & rdquor ;, says Julia.
From its origins as an acoustic song, with folk airs and Latin American roots, Perotá Chingó has expanded its creative frontiers and has recently explored new sounds and formats in its songs, incorporating beats electronics and folk rhythms from other latitudes. What has caused his music to be felt with such intensity wherever it sounds: it is so authentic that it is difficult not to be carried away by its purity. In this 11 years tourthe group will once again celebrate life, the land and the vine through a special tour of its catalogue.
“One of the great novelties is that we return to have Diego Cotelo, the first guitarist of the formation. We are reconnecting with him. He adds a lot to us. Let’s go with a new band and with new sounds. They are the ones we have been working on in recent years, without forgetting our essence,” concludes Laura.
For Spanish appointments, in addition, they will have some special guest that they do not reveal for now. “We are really looking forward to seeing what will happen. This Show It is a gift for all the people who have been accompanying us from the beginning”, Julia emphasizes. And also for them… who are now reaping the fruits of blind sowing. With the heart.
