The search for the Miss Finland 2022 competition started on Thursday, May 28th. At the closed Casting event in Helsinki, the invitation to the competition was redeemed by more than 50 pre-qualified applicants.
The Wild Card application was also open to missed Miss candidates.
– The competition aroused great interest this year as well. There were more than a hundred more applications than in previous years. Among the hundreds of applicants, invitations went to both familiar and new faces. This year, it was especially emphasized that a lot has been practiced in performing and other skills that belong to Miss’s duties, says Sunneva Sjögre, CEO of Finnartist Oy, in a press release.
The jury also had four gold tickets, which they were allowed to present to the Miss Candidate immediately during the Casting Judge Interview, thus giving the applicant direct access to the semi-final stage of the competition. The jury could choose not to distribute the tickets.
– The recipient of the golden flag must exude confidence and a passion for performance work. This is a really exciting reform. It must now be clear to everyone from the outset that this is fierce competition. I myself practiced hard for four years to win the title, said Miss Finland Essi Unkuri, who sits on the jury.
The first golden flags in history redeemed themselves Emmi Pekkanen, Oona Komi, Ella Lännistö and Karoliina Vettenniemi.

In addition to Hungary, Miss Finland 2020 Viivi Altonen, miss expert, sat on the jury of the casting event. Heidi MaijalaChief Educator at More Than Beauty Academy Jaana Villanen and a tourism specialist Terhi Alanya.
The remaining 16 semi-finalists were also selected. The semi-finalists will be presented to the public in June.
