These spring trends will be everywhere: stylists reveal

Professional stylists working in fashion know which trends are current right now.

Long-term stylists Johanna Biispa, Emilia Laitanen and Mirkka Siusluoto reveal their best picks for this season.

Low-waisted jeans

Jeans, jeans, jeans. This spring we see a lot of Y2K influences in fashion. The central piece of clothing in this trend is jeans.

– One clear example of the Y2K effects is denim fashion: the waist is getting lower and the washes show more both wear and tear. For example, you can look for inspiration from Britney Spears’ denim outfits of the early 2000s, assures stylist Johanna Piispa.

Metallic shades

In addition to denim fabric, another trendy material choice is metallic-toned fabrics. According to stylist Emilia Laitanen, in addition to silver pants, we will see metallic shades in whole outfits.

– A slightly easier way to take over the trend is Mini-sized shiny disco bags. Sequined, gold or silvery vintage-inspired mini bags are the perfect accessory for evening dresses and cocktail dresses or combined with jeans during the day, she says.

Laitanen advises to look for the best bags from flea markets and vintage shops. Fashion houses such as Khaite, JW Anderson, Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta have fallen in love with this trend in their collections.

Bright colors

Strong colors have been cheering up fashion for some time now. This season, on the other hand, there is some change in the color tones.

– This spring, the color choices of the outfits were dominated by strong and powerful colors. Especially different shades of red, as well as refreshing orange and bright green, are trendy, reveals Mirkka Siusluoto.

Crocheted clothes

Home-woven, skillfully crocheted clothes and accessories are perfect for spring and the coming summer. This is going to be a big trend.

– During the spring fashion weeks, we saw a lot of crocheted warm dresses, fisherman’s hats and summer bags. Now is still a good time to start your own craft project. You can look for inspiration from fashion houses, for example Miu Miu or Chloé, says Piispa.

Fringe

Playful fringes also bring a trendy bohemian feel to the outfit.

– Fringes bring joy in small doses on trouser legs, dress hems or sleeves. For inspiration, check out the Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta’s spring-summer collection, advises Emilia Laitanen.

Uggs

In Biispa’s opinion, the most surprising hit shoes of winter and early spring have been Uggs, which made a spectacular comeback, which we already wrote about earlier.

Ballerina shoes

When the snow melts, the classic shoes of the 21st century, i.e. ballerinas, make a spectacular return to the fashion scene in Finland as well.

– However, what is new is how ballerinas are now combined with other outfits: instead of a preppy style, something casual is chosen to pair with slippers, such as thigh-pocket trousers or loose jeans, says Piispa.

Loafers

Along with ballerinas, classic loafers are also a favorite model every spring.

– Thick-soled loafers are spring’s most versatile shoes, says Emilia Laitanen.

He suggests getting to know Camper Lab’s colorful collection, designed by a Finnish shoe designer Achilles Ion Gabriel.

Cargo pants

The legs of thigh-pocket trousers are fluttering this spring.

– Cargo pants are an absolute must-have for spring, advises Mirkka Siusluoto.

– This new shape of thigh-pocket trousers is wide in the leg and can be worn both for everyday life and for a more festive style. Combine a neutral-toned pair of pants with a bright-colored top, she advises.

Long denim skirt

Denim fabric works in any garment this spring. According to Johanna Piispa, a sure-fire purchase is a long denim skirt.

Cut out dress

The most fashionable dress choice for spring is a dress with a cut out detail.

– Spring party dresses get spectacular when the skin starts to flash. Instead, the hems of long dresses are getting narrower now, says Siusluoto.

Miniskirt

In skirts, you should focus on the minimal version.

– The hems of the skirts are now even shorter. If the style seems too bold, wear something more covering on the top or high boots. Combine a miniskirt with a blazer in the same shade, Siusluoto continues.

House jacket

In the timeless and versatile jacket, inspiration is now sought from the barracks.
