Harry Styles’ “As It Was” has now been at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 weeks – spanning 24 weeks. However, the record for the longest-standing song in the US still comes from Mariah Carey with “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.
1. Mariah Carey with “All I Want For Christmas Is You”
From December 2019 to January 2022, the classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” stayed at number one in the singles charts. With that, Carey set a new record that will be very difficult to break. The song comes from the album “Merry Christmas”, which was released in 1994.
2. Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus with “Old Town Road”
This is followed by “Old Town Road”, a collaboration between Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus. The single stayed at number one for 19 weeks. The rap song was released three years ago on Lil Nas X’s EP 7EP. The music video on YouTube alone has already been streamed over a billion times.
3. “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey’s “One Sweet Day”
The party remix “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey’s “One Sweet Day” in cooperation with Boyz II Men were able to stay at the top for 16 weeks. The original version without Justin Bieber was also very popular, but it wasn’t as successful as the remix.
4. Harry Styles with “As It Was”
Harry Styles now takes fourth place with “As It Was” from his current album “Harry’s House” (here is our review). He has now been in first place for 14 weeks. The next few weeks will show whether he can overtake the frontrunners just mentioned.
The top 10 most lingering songs also include Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars with “Uptown Funk!”, The Black Eyed Peas with “I Gotta Feeling”, Mariah Carey with “We Belong Together”, Elton John with “Candle in the Wind 1997” and “Something About the Way You Look Tonight”, Los Del Rio with “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)” and Boyz II Men with “I’ll Make Love to You” and finally Whitney Houston with “I Will Always Love You”.
