Three new items in the Gault & Millau culinary guide. The institute has announced its new restaurant guide, with three new establishments in Groningen city and several jetties in Drenthe and Groningen.
Blumé by chef Henrice Dijks, in the Oude Ebbingestraat, is the highest entry in Groningen with 13.5 points. Rooftop Merckt under the leadership of chef Simon Feitsma is increasing slightly, from 13.5 points last year to 14 points this year.
Two jetties in Drenthe
Cicci’s (12 points) and Niemeijer (13 points) are also newly mentioned in the Gault & Millau guide. Bisque has already been mentioned, but has now also received a number of points: 13.5 points. Owners Niels Schievink and Sabrina Mans took over the business a year ago. The restaurant with the highest score in Groningen is Noor with 16.5 points. That is unchanged from last year.
There are no further shifts in the province of Groningen.
In Drenthe, De Keuken van Arragon van Fluitenberg (14 points) and Poortman in Veeningen (13.5 points) rose. But there are no newcomers in Drenthe. The highest rating in Drenthe is De Vlindertuin in Zuidlaren with 16.5 points.
What is Gault & Millau?
Gault & Millau is a kind of counterpart to the Michelin Guide. The differences between the two are small, but the most important is that Gault & Millau works with points, instead of stars. A case can receive a maximum of twenty points.
This is what each number of points means:
– 10, 11 and 12: Restaurant from an honest to interesting level
– 13 and 14: Good, neat table, reliable and sometimes original
– 15 and 16: Restaurant or brasserie that offers special cuisine
– 17 and 18: Very special table, memorable memories
– 19 and 20: The indisputable top
Gault & Millau also always awards eighteen prizes, such as ‘Chef of the Year’, ‘Young Top Chef of the Year’, and ‘Discovery of the Year’, but none of those prizes went to a business in Groningen this year.
