These four people from Drenthe have been nominated for the Culture Talent Prize

A fashion designer has to compete against three theater makers for the Drenthe Culture Talent Prize. The prize will be awarded for the fourteenth time on Monday April 15 and these are the nominees.

This 29-year-old fashion designer from Emmen made his breakthrough last year with his first fashion collection in Paris. It involved twelve white dresses with a nod to historical costumes and the collection could also be admired in California and Tokyo.

The Emmen resident works for the Amsterdam fashion label Extreme Cashmere. He owes his nomination to his sustainable and artistic approach to fashion.

Hans van der Werf (23) from Borger is a multi-talent and is currently having a lot of success with his band Hiigo and the song Tankstation. He just won’t be nominated for this. Van der Werf also directed the successful theater performance De Vlaggenhijsers last year as a follow-up to the documentary film of the same name.

The Drenthe jury sees him as a language artist and stimulating theater teacher.

Theater makers Wind (31) and Heegstra (30) from Assen both studied at the theater academy in Maastricht and after their training they started working together. Last year they wrote the lunch performance together Exit Poll for the National Theater and Theater Bellevue. A comic performance in which the central theme was ‘what if 80 percent of the Dutch voted blank’.

The duo also worked on a performance at De Balie in Amsterdam. Both started their careers at NiznO (now Garage TDI) in Assen and, according to the jury, are therefore an example for young people in Drenthe.

The four talents have been nominated from a group of 27 names from Drenthe. This group consists of singer-songwriters, literary talents, actors, artists, filmmakers and acrobats. This year’s jury consisted of Annelies Bakelaar (Bilbionet), Laura Popken (Dagblad van het Noorden), Marieke Smink (CBK Emmen), Wessel de Vries (Het Podium Hoogeveen) and Remco van Zandvoort (Garage TDI).

A national jury will soon decide which of the three nominees deserves the Drenthe Culture Talent Prize this year.
