These decisions are made in Valencia

Next weekend, at the Grand Prix in Valencia, the decisions in the drivers’ world championship will be made in MotoGP and Moto2. But there are also other ratings open in the three classes. Here is the overview.

In MotoGP, Francesco Bagnaia is the big favorite for the world title. The Ducati rider goes into the final with a 23-point lead over defending champion Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha). The math is simple. Quartararo definitely needs to win to have a chance.

On the other hand, Bagnaia is at least 14th place. If Bagnaia collects two points, then they would be tied. Bagnaia would have seven wins of the season and Quartararo only four in this scenario. Bagnaia would be world champion. If Quartararo doesn’t win, Bagnaia is automatically world champion.

If Quartararo wins and Bagnaia, in 15th, picks up just one point or goes away empty-handed, the Frenchman could defend his world title. Bagnaia clearly has a much better starting position. It would be his first world title and the first for Ducati since 2007.

Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) and Enea Bastianini (Gresini-Ducati) also have mathematical chances of second place in the World Championship. Espargaro or Bastianini would have to win the race for that and Quartararo should be 15th at most.

More likely is the duel for third place in the World Cup. Espargaro has a point ahead of Bastianini. In theory, Jack Miller could also finish third, but the Ducati rider is 23 points behind Espargaro.

Numerous decisions in MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 still open

The world championship duel in the Moto2 class is more open. Augusto Fernandez is 9.5 points ahead of Ai Ogura and has the better starting position. The past races have shown that the pendulum constantly swings back and forth between the two.

In Moto2, the team classification has not yet been decided. Again, it’s a duel between Ajo and Honda Team Asia. The Ajo duo of Fernandez and Pedro Acosta have a 33.5 point lead over Ogura and Somkiat Chantra. A maximum of 45 points can still be collected.

The question of who will be the best Moto2 rookie of the year is also exciting. Alonso Lopez is 3.5 points clear of Acosta, despite Lopez not having competed in the first six races of the season. Acosta missed two races due to injury. Both have celebrated two wins so far.

In the Moto3 class, the only open question is who will be the best rookie of the year. Diogo Moreira is eight points ahead of Daniel Holgado. David Munoz also has a chance. He is 20 points behind Moreira.
