On Friday (February 14, 2025), the first show of the German ESC preliminary decision “Chefsmache ESC 2025” starts at 8:15 p.m.
In this program, 12 of the 24 participants will appear. The musicians, musicians and bands, who are largely unknown in the general public, will either present their own songs or cover versions.
A four -member jury, consisting of Stefan Raab, Yvonne Catterfeld, Elton and the guest juror Max Mutzke, will decide which acts can move into the semi -finals on February 22nd. The show is moderated by Barbara Schöneberger.

The background: Stefan Raab and his team have selected 24 musicians/bands from a total of 3281 applications, all of whom have the chance to perform at this year’s ESC in Switzerland. Twelve acts each compete in the first and second show. The best 14 then compete against each other in the semifinals.
ESC preliminary decision: How does the voting work?
In the final on March 1, 2025, the decision is 100% with the audience. The audience can vote by televoting (calls and SMS) who should represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel.
This system ensures that in the preliminary rounds and the semi -finals, the selection of musicians and bands is actually a “boss matter”, while in the final the audience have full control over the final decision.

- The semi -finals: February 22, 2025: 8:15 p.m. at RTL and RTL+
