These are the seven richest neighborhoods in Spain… and three are Catalan

The districts and neighborhoods of The morale (Alcobendas, Madrid), Garden City (Lleida), Pla de Remei (Valencia) and Salamanca-Goya (Madrid) are the areas that registered the highest average gross incomes in all of Spain in 2021, according to the income statements of their residents.

Specifically, La Moraleja, a district of the Madrid municipality of Alcobendas, is the neighborhood with the highest gross income in all of Spain, with a average income of 190,949 euros, per inhabitant, 5% more compared to the previous year. It follows Ciutat Jardí (Lleida)with 102,360 euros, which practically doubles his 2020 income (54,797 euros).

After these areas, also standing out, with average gross incomes exceeding 90,000 euros, Pla de Remei (Valencia)with 100,317 euros; Salamanca-Goya (Madrid)with 99,147 euros; Pedralbes-Sarriá (Barcelona), with 98,883 euros; Vallvidrera-Tibidabo i Les Planes (Barcelona), with 96,094 euros, and Somosaguas-Humera (Pozuelo de Alarcón), with 95,131 euros.

From a further distance, the city of Tarragona stands out, the district of Ferran-Tamarit-La Morawhich registers an average gross income of 50,235 euros per year, while in Girona, the list of rich neighborhoods is headed by Barri Vellwith 41,171 euros, closely followed by Migdia-Montivila-La Creu Palau, with 41,062

On the other side of the balance, the districts with the lowest average gross income in Spain are White Tower (Seville), with 10,780 euros; Carrús-Plaza Barcelona (Elche), with 15,959 euros, and Nou Alacant (Alicante), with 15,760 euros.

The selection of municipalities by the Tax Agency for this statistic has been made according to three criteria of which at least one of them must be met: population size (more than 200,000 inhabitants according to the population census), fiscal size (more than 100,000 personal income tax returns in the fiscal year) and total gross income (having an aggregate gross income of more than 2.2 billion euros). In most cases all three criteria are met simultaneously, but there are a few cases in which only one of them is valid.
