Now that the temperatures are slowly getting cooler, Stylight has its eye on the upcoming trends for fall/winter 2023. The Y2K officecore aesthetic, with its office-appropriate outfits that give a supposedly well-behaved and serious look, is gaining popularity and is embodied by today’s It girls. By analyzing its 120 million users, the European fashion platform has identified three pieces that embody this rising trend.
The rectangular glasses
Glasses are not only practical but also aesthetically pleasing. More classic styles have been getting a lot of attention lately, particularly slim, rectangular frames reminiscent of the frames worn by model Gisele Bündchen in The Devil Wears Prada. These glasses shapes are very popular and can be seen on models Bella Hadid and Amelia Gray, but also on Gabbriette Bechtel, who has almost 600,000 followers on Instagram. Stylight reports that Google searches for “rectangular frame glasses” increased 24 percent over the year.
The tie
While ties have always occupied a very special place in men’s wardrobe – be it in conjunction with office attire or on more formal occasions – they have now established themselves in women’s wardrobes too. The accessory can be used in a variety of ways, both with elegant silhouettes and with urban looks. On TikTok, many users alienate the tie from its original purpose and use it as a belt. For the period June to September 2023, Stylight reports that demand for wide ties increased by 86 percent compared to the same period last year
The short trench coat
The short trench coat, which looks more like a sleek mini dress than a heavy coat, saw a 52 percent increase in inquiries on the Stylight platform. Google searches for “cropped trench coat” saw a 339 percent increase between September 2022 and 2023. The trend has been worn by numerous celebrities, including model Kendall Jenner (294 million followers on Instagram) and Italian fashion influencer Chiara Ferragni (29.6 million followers on Instagram).
