As in previous years, fireworks-free zones have been established by the municipality for New Year’s Eve. Very nice, because in those places you can quietly walk your dog or take a walk without being disturbed by loud bangs.

Not everyone is happy with fireworks: the loud bangs make some people prefer not to be on the street during New Year’s Eve. Fireworks-free zones have been established by the municipality for those people, but also for our pets and animals in the wild.

The following areas have been designated as fireworks-free zones in Zoetermeer:

  • Balijbos;
  • Buytenpark (from SnowWorld);
  • Wijkpark Buytenwegh (up to SnowWorld, including sports fields)
  • Indoor park De Leyens
  • Mayor Hoekstra Park (Rokkeveen)
  • Aldo van Eyck Park (North Hove)
  • Cycling and walking path along the Oostkade (Oosterheem)
  • Surroundings of the Market: Marseillepad, the rear of the London Street, the Stadhuisplein, Eastward and Southward
  • Parking lot and the event area at Silverdome, Van der Hagenstraat

Fireworks may only be set off in Zoetermeer between 31 December 2022 6:00 PM and 1 January 2023 02:00 AM. Fireworks may never be set off in the above parks, streets and areas.

Check

In the period before the turn of the year, the municipality places warning signs at various locations in these areas. The Enforcement Team and the police monitor compliance with the fireworks-free zones.
