They are the crème de la crème, the best of the best, the icing on the Berlin gastro scene! At the weekend, Berlin’s master chefs were honored for the 26th time.
The independent jury of food journalists like Stefan Ivory (Feinschmecker), Jan Peter Wulff (Nomyblog) or me, the BZ reporter, were spoiled for choice.
“Over the years, the capital has developed into an outstanding food metropolis, and Berlin’s master chefs have played a large part in this,” says Stefan Franzke, Managing Director of Berlin Partner.
The approximately 300 guests at the gala were taken directly to the Schöneweide S-Bahn station in a special train. There the mini versions of restaurants of former award winners were set up. These include the “Brikz” (Charlottenburg) or the one-star restaurant “Irma la Douce” (Tiergarten).
► Jonas Zörner (29) from the one-star restaurant “Golvet” (Tiergarten) became master chef.
He was overwhelmed: “The competition was very tough, I’m really happy”.
The other winners:
► Christopher Kujanski from the restaurant “Pots” (Tiergarten) was named “Rising Star of the Year”. And not only so-called fine dining restaurants were awarded!
► “Kiezmeister 2022” is the Chinese noodle house “Wen Cheng” (Prenzlauer Berg). You can get the award-winning Bian Biang noodles here for 11.90 euros.
► “Berlin’s trendy restaurant 2022” is this year’s “Frühstück 3000” (Schoeneberg).
► Fabian Fischer from the restaurant “Bricole” (Prenzlauer Berg) was named “Berlin Host 2022”.
► The award for the “Berlin Bar Culture 2022” went to the “Velvet Bar Berlin” (Neukölln).
► And “Gastronomic Innovator 2022” is Cookie Heinz Gindullis, owner of “Cookies Cream” and “Crackers”.
My conclusion of the evening: It was the most exciting award ceremony I have ever attended. And the great nominees show what a diverse range of culinary delights Berlin has to offer.
