“These always have to be calculated a little”

News anchor Kirsi Alm-Siira’s Christmas Eve is going well at work.

News anchor Kirsi Alm-Siiran Christmas Eve is not the most ordinary of all, at least not the most ordinary for those who work during office hours.

Alm-Siira says that she will work on Christmas Eve, and otherwise spend Christmas with her family.

– I voluntarily promised to be at work on Christmas Eve to read Seitsemä’s news. However, you can get out of it pretty early and get home in time for the evening. It’s a small act in a way, and it redeems the fact that you can have Midsummer or May Day off, for example. These always have to be calculated a little, Alm-Siira told MTV at the press conference at the company’s new premises at Konepajaja in Vallila.

– The setting is great and my own commute is easier. We already know roughly where the best after work places are, says Alm-Siira.

News anchor Keijo Leppänen has worked for almost 30 years in MTV’s old premises in Ilma.

– 30 years ago I was knocking on the door of Pasila for a summer job. One stage ends, says Leppänen.

According to Leppänen, the biggest change in 30 years has happened in the cameras from his point of view.

– Back then, men and women were hanging from the handles of cameras. 15 years ago they turned into robots and we are alone with another news anchor in a big studio.

Leppänen also remembers how 30 years ago linear television was used, today there are streaming services.

– We are grateful that some still watch live programs. The good news is that, in accordance with the nature of our work, we want to see the news immediately. It’s different with series. The news is here and now.
