THEL Geranium of Copenhagen it is the best restaurant in the world. At least according to the international ranking The 50 Best Restaurants 2022which from London’s Old Billingsgate Market, a former fish market overlooking the Thames, revealed the list of the 50 best restaurants.

Unveiled by actor and gourmet expert Stanley Tucci these temples of gastronomic excellence are scattered across 24 countries on 5 continents. There were 12 new restaurants among the winners.

Denmark, Peru and Spain on the podium

If Geranium is the first, the Central restaurant of Lima (second) and the Disfrutar of Barcelona (third). That of Danish chef Rasmus Kofoed was an announced victory, given that he had finished second in 2021 and given that by regulation the winners of the previous year – famously René Redzepi’s Noma – they cannot be re-elected but only put on a special “Best of the Best” list.

The 6 best Italian restaurants in the world

Like in the Netflix movie Tuscany, Danish is the best in the world, while the Italians follow. Not too far away though. In 8th place, the first among our own, arrives Riccardo Camanini with his Lido 84 in Gardone Rivierafollowed by Massimiliano Alajmo de Le Calandre (in tenth place) and from Mauro Uliassiwhich climbs the ranking by finishing in twelfth place (and also winning the Highest New Entry Award, highest entry of the year in the 50 Best).

We are all chefs, but in the kitchen we make certain mistakes (almost) all of them

Position # 15 is conquered by Niko Romito with the Royal restaurant which is located in Castel di Sangro (the Eagle). Then, in nineteenth place, we find Enrico Crippa with the restaurant Piazza Duomo in Alba and ten positions below (twenty-ninth) Norbert Nierderkofler from the restaurant St. Hubertus of the Hotel Rosa Alpina in San Cassiano.

Italian chefs

«A beautiful image for Italy – said Massimiliano Alajmo – with a ranking that recognizes the great value of our cuisine. There are still other restaurants that deserve to be there and so I hope this is just the beginning “.

Riccardo Camanini is equally happy with the result of Italian cuisine which, he says, demonstrates a careful look at our work and is an incentive for everyone to improve even more. “We need to feel responsible,” he said, “as part of a culture that is admired all over the world and that has found many different expressions throughout history.”
