Consultation about the backrest
In principle, you can sit with your seat back on the plane for the entire flight. After all, you paid for that chair yourself, but it’s not very neat. The legroom of the person behind you can be considerably reduced if you do that.
During a short flight, it is even recommended to leave your seat upright. Would you like to recline your seat to take a nap during a long intercontinental flight? First warn the person behind you. This way you give your fellow passenger time to secure his or her belongings on the table.
Divide hand luggage
Many people travel with hand luggage only, so there is often little space in the compartments above the seats. Are you traveling with a trolley and a small bag or backpack? Then put the trolley in the hand luggage compartments above your seat and put your bag or backpack under the seat in front of you. The same goes for your jacket. This leaves enough space for the others.
Don’t clap
It’s often well-intentioned, but it’s best not to clap once the pilot has landed. If your baker or waiter has done a good job, you don’t applaud either. The pilot is just doing his job and don’t expect a standing ovation. In fact, the cockpit door is closed so they don’t even hear the applause.
Switch seat
During a flight, nothing is more annoying than someone sitting in your seat. Sit neatly in the designated place and do not take someone else’s seat, often people have also paid extra for this. Do you really want a different place? Then ask the flight attendant for help.
Battle for the armrest
On the plane you share the armrest with the person next to you. Which of the two is most entitled to it? Travel etiquette expert Elaine Swann provided the answer in an interview with Zoover†
According to her, the unwritten rule is to use one armrest and sacrifice the other for your neighbor. Logically you choose the armrest with the connection for, among other things, your headphones. You can also consult with the person next to you. It may go without saying, but it still happens often: never put your feet on the armrest of the person in front of you.
Sealing your suitcase before boarding the plane is a safe idea. We can only miss that fiddling at the airport like a toothache. This is how you seal your own suitcase cheaply and quickly:
