“There’s no Mallorca music!” Black makes Hertha frustration hope

After the depressing bankruptcy at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, coach Sandro Schwarz is going into the final games to stay up in the league with clear ideas.

“The atmosphere is not great. But the situation is still such that you can still solve it,” said the 44-year-old in a media session on Tuesday after training. “We have to show a different face away, play home games the same way and then you can sort it out. That is the good news.”

After the 25th matchday, Hertha is on the relegation place with 21 points thanks to the better goal difference compared to Schalke 04, who are seventeenth in the table. Schwarz is still upset about his team’s performance in the 3-1 defeat against Hoffenheim without a win in 14 games. But the coach does not want to deny his professionals that they have not yet internalized the situation.

“We are totally aware of the danger and know what a relegation battle means,” said Schwarz, “you can see that in the boys in the locker room too. There’s no Mallorca music playing, that’s exactly the attitude we need. That’s why I see the guys, that’s why I feel them every day how they deal with the situation.”

Schwarz is pleased that the remaining professionals will be able to compete again on Friday at the charity game in aid of the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria. Five players are currently with their national teams. Next week the focus will be on the game at SC Freiburg.

Schwarz is then hoping for a different appearance abroad than in Hoffenheim: “Especially after the international break, that shouldn’t happen again in the nine games we played. We are aware of that.”

Schwarz is hoping for similar performances from his team as in the three wins in the most recent home games or away in Dortmund: “I think that after the game in Frankfurt we clearly showed that we know how our game should look like and have already converted that.”
