Joni Mäki will most likely not compete in the 4×10 kilometer relay.
Iltalehti’s skiing expert Reijo Jylhä announced that no double message to the double medallist Joni Mäelle take a place in the World Championships in Planica in the 4×10 kilometer relay.
The athlete seems to agree with the ex-head coach.
– When I’ve been around these slopes, fortunately there are tough guys who can ski the relay, Mäki commented.
So you’re throwing in the towel regarding the post position?
– I’m ready to ski if I’m selected, but we’ll see how the competitions go, Mäki answers.
The starting point is probably that you have two trips in Planica: the traditional sprint on Thursday and if it goes salon-worthy, then the second start is the free double relay on Sunday?
– Yeah.
And home at the beginning of next week?
– We’ll see.
Mäki’s voice was loud on Wednesday in Slovenia.
How is your health?
– 90 percent. It’s been a bit stuffy for a couple of days. At least it hasn’t gone into the muscle yet.
What is the goal in the sprint?
– The season has been so varied, so I can’t say how it will go.
In the most recent World Cup traditional sprint in France in January, the Finn qualified for the continuation after the time trial.
– Yes, it’s better in Planica. It’s just that the muscles didn’t work in France after the Tampere WC and the start of the tenth World Cup. I tried to command my muscles, but nothing happened.
The man from Pyhäjärvi Pohti Ski Team has been at his best this season in the traditional sprint of the Fifth World Cup.
