“There will be noise internally at FC Bayern”

What will happen at FC Bayern in the coming days after the clear 3-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen? TV expert Lothar Matthäus predicts troubled times for the people of Munich.

At FC Bayern we are used to victories, so it is inherently uncomfortable when the Munich team loses a game. But the crushing defeat (0:3) in the very important game against league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who are now five points away, has created a lot of need for discussion.

Among other things, Thomas Tuchel surprised with a three-man defense, which became a five-man defense when it reversed. A means that neither Tuchel’s team nor TV expert Lothar Matthäus understood.

“The team doesn’t have security. The decisions that Thomas Tuchel made before the game were certainly based on his conviction. But they simply didn’t work,” Matthäus put his finger in the wound on “Sky”.

“If you lose 3-0, then you’ve certainly made mistakes in your line-up.” Leverkusen is now playing “in a league of its own,” the 1990 world champion continued, but: “Coach and team still have to ask themselves what they did wrong.”

Matthäus sees a “storm danger” at FC Bayern

According to Matthäus, things will be busy on Säbener Straße in the next few days. “Of course there will be noise not only in the media, but also internally at Bayern,” said the TV expert.

On the one hand, the coach will “regulate the team correctly”. On the other hand, the Bayern bosses “will of course think about what happens next, how cohesion at Bayern is still possible.” Matthäus even sees a “storm danger” at FC Bayern.

After the impressions of the 21st matchday, there is hardly anything that speaks against the first championship in Leverkusen’s club history – especially because of the performances of both teams in the important duel. The Werkself perhaps had the best performance in an already strong season, while the Munich team offered “the worst performance on the most important day,” or at least that was how national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer saw it.

Meanwhile, Matthäus gave his long-standing club little chance of winning the title. “It was a class difference at the highest level,” he said and added tellingly: As things stand, the Champions League is “easier to win” for Bayern than the championship. Bayer Leverkusen is “the favorite” for the title.
