The action is said to have arisen spontaneously between about 30 farmers. From Meetkerke they left around 2 p.m. towards Blauwe Toren in Bruges to occupy the intersection of the Blankenbergse Steenweg and the Expresweg. This is an important hub for freight traffic to and from the ports of Zeebrugge, Blankenberge and Bruges.
With this action, the farmers mainly want to keep pressure on the Flemish government. They will meet tomorrow with the agricultural organizations to find an agreement.
