There have already been fires in the Brandenburg forests a total of 383 times this year, said Deputy Forest Fire Protection Officer Philipp Haase on Tuesday when asked by the BZ.
According to this, more than 980 hectares were on fire – not including the current fire at Falkenberg.
The biggest fires:
► On June 17, a fire broke out in Treuenbrietzen in a pine forest. The forest fire spread to 173 hectares. Hundreds of people had to be temporarily evacuated. In 2018, around 400 hectares of forest were in flames in the same area.
► On June 19, 233 hectares of forest burned just one kilometer from the town of Beelitz. The extinguishing work of the fire brigade and the Bundeswehr lasted about a week.
► On June 23, a fire broke out at a former military training area in Gohrischheide in Saxony and spread towards Mühlberg (Elbe-Elster). 316 hectares of forest were in flames.
Brandenburg
► On June 27, around ten hectares of forest burned near Jüterbog (Teltow-Fläming).
► On July 4th, a forest area in the Lieberoser Heide (Dahme-Spreewald) was on fire. The fire spread to 90 hectares.
► On July 20, a fire broke out in a field near Bad Saarow (Oder-Spree) and spread to a forest area. About six hectares of fields and just as much forest were on fire.
► On July 25, 18 hectares of forest and twelve hectares of fields burned near Gransee.
