There are 2,000 beer bottles in Erl’s house, because he can’t return them anywhere: “I think that’s weird”

Erl Dekker has little to complain about, but one problem has arisen for a while. There are about two thousand empty beer bottles of the Paix-Dieu brand behind his TV. The reason is simple: Erl cannot hand them in anywhere for a deposit, that is only possible in Belgium where the beer comes from. Throwing it in the glass container is not an option, because he gets a 0.50 cent deposit for the empty bottles.

Erl is, to say the least, a big fan of Paix-Dieu, but he is really disappointed in Albert Heijn. “So you can hand in everything at Albert Heijn nowadays. But you can’t hand in very expensive beautiful cone-shaped bottles from Belgium, while they do sell it,” says Erl in front of the huge bag with empty beer bottles in his living room. “I think that’s a little weird.”

Because of the empty beer bottles, Erl suffers from many fruit flies in his house, but he has a solution.

The specialty beer lover does not worry about the piles of beer bottles, because they will no longer grow. “I don’t like them anymore,” he says with a laugh.

Erl is not the most difficult and will soon personally go to Belgium with all the bags to finally collect his deposit.
