Theo Maassen is in a terrible bind in terms of PR. His implausible denial provokes so much annoyance from Yvonne Coldeweijer that she threatens with even more dirt. “He is much worse than Matthijs!”
It seems that the media and the masses have not yet completely decided when exactly a celebrity should hang from the highest tree. The one star with alleged misconduct is completely canceled, while Theo Maassen has still not been thrown out by the VPRO. And yet the legal status of all those cases is the same: no case and no ruling.
“Why are you in denial?”
Yvonne Coldeweijer is extremely annoyed that Theo denies through his manager, who is also his sister, that he is committing or has committed domestic violence. He does not do this himself, but through a trio of women: his sister, his wife Joyce and an ex-girlfriend. And that denial is also indirect: Joyce only says that she has never broken her nose.

She points it out in her podcast The Juice Show that Joyce had known for months that Privé would write about domestic violence. “Why is this denied? What did Theo say to you? What is the reason you are withdrawing it all now?”
Worse than Matthijs
That Theo is ten times worse than Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, according to the juice queen. “He’s much worse. Matthijs van Nieuwkerk attacked people in the workplace. Theo Maassen simply knocks out his wife. Well, I’m charging. Only Theo Maassen is wrong, right? He’s really crazy, isn’t he?”
According to Yvonne, there is much more Theo dirt on her shelf. “I have many more things about him. I’d like to see how this is analyzed. What are we suddenly going to do now? Are we going to deny now? Because then I will come up with the things I still know.”
Millions
Yvonne thinks that Theo’s trio of women is suddenly in denial because of their financial interests. “If Theo can no longer perform, your millions will go. Then you simply have no income anymore. And so neither are all those people, because his sister is his manager and his wife is married to him in community of property.”
The much-discussed app conversation between Theo’s wife Joyce and his former mistress Angela (the whistleblower in this case) is the source of all information about domestic violence. A transcript of this has been posted online by Yvonne, while Joyce previously requested Privé boss Evert Santegoeds not to quote her literally, but to paraphrase.
Is Evert leaking?
Did Evert leak the app conversation to Yvonne to get that transcript out? No, he says in the podcast Strictly Private. “I don’t know how that is possible, but yes, there were apparently more people who had those apps and Yvonne Coldeweijer took advantage of them. Then everyone can see what I’ve been saying for weeks.”
What then? “That we have those apps and it is just black and white in those apps that she got a broken nose. She says it herself, so Joyce now denies that… I don’t think Theo Maassen has done himself a good service with that denial last week.”
