Then catch me if you can: comic photo shows inventive hiding place of drug criminal who flees from police | Abroad

In the United Kingdom, a cat-and-mouse game between the police and a drug criminal has produced a comical picture. For example, Etmond Lika, who has been convicted of cannabis trafficking, found an inventive way to escape the police. The 32-year-old Albanian had climbed onto his roof and took shelter just above his skylight. And that caused the necessary confusion among the police officers.

The funny photo was taken in Liverpool and shows a police officer looking for Lika half hanging out of the window, while the latter is just standing right above him. It is not clear who took the photo.

The image dates from February, when the police carried out a house search in the row house where 32-year-old Lika lived. Officers found cannabis growing equipment and 200 cannabis plants spread over six rooms. Despite his original hiding place, Lika was eventually found and arrested.

The Albanian appeared in court last week. He ran the cannabis farm along with other dealers and had no fixed abode. The thirty-something said that he had crossed the Channel from Albania in a small boat for 5,000 euros and that he was paid 100 pounds (about 113 euros) a day to live in the building.

Prison sentence of two years

Prosecutor Christopher Hopkins stressed that Lika was hired by a dealer to manage the plantation. “He was motivated by the financial benefits, but must have known without a doubt what was going on in the house,” he said. “Lika wants to work, but he now knows that he should have done it the right way,” said his lawyer Olivia Beesley. She also said that the Albanian had been homeless for a week before becoming involved in cannabis cultivation. Lika was sentenced to two years and four months in prison.

The photo caused great hilarity on social media. “He does look pretty high indeed,” someone commented on Twitter. “The police, what should we do? I have an idea, I saw this in a cartoon once,” another Twitter user joked.
