This afternoon the Peergroup gave a presentation in Theaterschuur Linde about the upcoming theater spectacle Atropos. A large waste cathedral will be built in the Koekangerveld in Westerwolde, which will appear as a ‘pimple in the landscape’.
“Extremely exciting,” artistic director Dirk Bruinsma calls the presentation. “It feels like the birth of a new piece.” Rehearsals are already underway. With a lot of young talent and players from the region. “Sixty people in total,” says Bruinsma. “And more people can join. You can register via our site.”
The intention is for the play Atropos to premiere on May 31. Quite a bit still needs to be done for this, because the waste cathedral, a construction with no less than four kilometers of scaffolding tubes, was not built just like that. “It is being built with the help of regional construction companies,” says Bruinsma. “This is done on a surface of 221 concrete slabs, otherwise it will sink straight into the meadow.”
