THEthe young Montalbano is grappling with new cases to solve. Tonight at 21.25 on Rai 1 the fourth episode of the series with Michele Riondino is broadcast, prequel to Inspector Montalbano, by title Mortally wounded. A new reply, which tells the personal and professional story of Salvo, now grappling with his love for Livia and the murders that, from time to time, stain Vigata. The imaginary town, that is, in which the novels by Andrea Camilleri are set, from which the series is based.
The young Montalbanothe plot of the fourth episode
The Commissioner’s love life seems to be booming. The understanding with Livia (Sarah Felberbaum) is getting stronger and the positive effects of this new love make Salvo (Michele Riondino) more malleable than usual. Even at the police station there is a serene atmosphere.
The only negative note concerns Fazio (Andrea Tidona). After the heart attack, he first returns to work, but is then forced to retire against his will.
Love, however, is not everything. In Vigata it is time for new investigations. On the streets of the country, someone has posted defamatory flyers with the excuse of an unusual popular referendum.
The question citizens are called upon to answer is the following: «Is Signora Briguccio a p.?». She is a low blow against Mr. Saverio Briguccio, a local politician. Salvo asks for the help of the deputy Mimì Augello (Alessio Vassallo), who – from tombeur de femmes and big gossip that he is – obviously he is aware of several details about the lady’s private life.
Mortally woundedthe solution is in the Bible
The commissioner continues to think that it is only a boutade, but the matter soon gets complicated. Briguccio makes a scene in the town hall. Then, overwhelmed by shame, he shoots Carlo Manifò, the neighbor. Meanwhile the wife of Briguccio, Elena (Marilyn Gallo), shows up at the police station to provide spontaneous statements.
She tells Salvo and Augello that a few days earlier Manifò tried to rape her, after luring her into the house, with the excuse of returning a book for her husband. At this point, Manifò takes his revenge by putting up the posters and she is forced to tell everything to her husband, who – according to the woman – loses the light of reason and shoots her.
The case seems solved, but the commissioner’s attention is captured by a clue revealed by the victim. AND the solution is hidden in the pages of the Bible. The victim is not Elena, but Manifò.
The young Montalbano meets his father thanks to Livia
While in, Salvo has to solve another mystery. It is about the murder of Gerlando Cascio. Apparently an inexplicable death. He was an old man, meek, without blemish. To contribute to the investigation is Grazia (Tea Falco), the victim’s niece, the first to find the man’s body.
He tells the inspector some details of his uncle’s life, as well as the house they lived in together. In this regard, he speaks of the presence of a rear door from which customers accessed. Those who, that is, asked the victim for money. So behind the facade a dangerous usurer was hidingbut the murder still seems to be shrouded in shadows.
Montalbano continues to investigate and passionate revolts emerge, which shuffle the cards. The solution comes only after several misdirections, in conjunction with the discovery of another body. AND that of Dindo (Rocco Tommaso Cicarelli), the supermarket clerk, known by all. Also in this case, a man apparently mild and well-liked by all citizens.
Salvo gets to work, but he also has to face the cracks in his private life. Or the relationship with the father. After showing up at the police station unannounced on New Year’s Day, this time goes directly home thanks to the help of Livia. He hopes that his fiancée will leverage his son to reconcile. The young Montalbano, however, has no intention of making peace. Nonetheless, when the man leaves, he finally manages to open up and explains to his girlfriend the reasons for her decision.
