In the new episode, Vigata is shaken by a murder on board a fishing boat. It is the Charles III and the investigations immediately turn out to be quite complex. The story is shrouded in a blanket of mystery. No one, in fact, is willing to talk and Salvo (Michael Riondinio) comes up against a wall of silence and omissions.
Nonetheless, try to dig by talking to the local fishermen and the family members of the victim, Franco Arnone. Thus he discovers that it is not accidental death, but murder. The gunshot that killed him was fired by mistake, at least according to what was stated by Tano Cipolla, one of the fishermen of the crew.
So Montalbano delves into the relationship between Cipolla and his wife Michela, but his investigative activity reaches Matteo Cosentino (Domenico Centamore), a man affiliated with the Cuffaro gang. The commissioner is stubborn and knows he’s on the right track. In fact, he manages to obtain evidence of Cosentino’s illicit trafficking, attributable to the clan.

The wedding between Salvo and Livia is skipped
The Cuffaro family is a direct rival of the Sinagras, whose clan Antonio Barreca belongs to. A fugitive for some time, he no longer enjoys the protection of the clan e over time he developed a violent attitude towards his ex-girlfriend. In fact, he never misses an opportunity to threaten her and her family if she doesn’t agree to meet him in the places where she is hiding. The climax is reached when she sets off an explosion with an intimidating purpose. However, Barreca dies during a firefight and it is the young Montalbano who shoots.
For Livia it is a hard blow to take. Fear for the safety of her and her partner takes over. And start thinking about their future together. Is marriage really the right choice? While she tries to clear her doubts, Salvo gets busy looking for the wedding dress.
And accompanying him is his partner Mimì Augello (Alessio Vassallo). Livia, in fact, is not in Vigata and she cannot celebrate her engagement anniversary together with Salvo. Furthermore, decides to take a break for reflection and interrupts the preparations for the wedding.

Their story seemed to have finally taken the right path, but evidently it is not. Montalbano is deeply in love with his partner, but has another great passion: work. And Livia must understand if she is really willing to share it with the police station and, above all, with the risks of the job.
To console Salvo there is once again Mimì. She joins him on the beach, at the end of the episode. In his opinion, he just has to be patient because «it’s a matter of time. A little bit of time and things get better”, he suggests. Salvo nods, but history teaches, however, that the two will remain trapped in a tangle of doubts and uncertainties from which they will never get rid of.
