Farian was especially known for the Boney M music group, whose biggest hits were Daddy Cool, Rivers of Babylon and Rasputin. The group sold no less than 150 million records.
Farian is also behind the band Milli Vanilli, which has become a phenomenon. The group was in the middle of a big uproar when it was revealed that its members Robert Pilate and Fabrice Morvan don’t even sing themselves, but their vocals come from the background tape. The uproar resulted in them losing the Grammy they had won.
Farian was born in southwestern Germany. He graduated as a chef at a young age, but at the same time he was working on his career as a budding music star. During his career, Farian worked with, among others, Meat Loaf and Stevie Wonder, and he is estimated to have sold more than 800 million records worldwide.
