The Chainsmokers, a band known to Finnish people from the Weekend festival, plans to make history. The duo playing electronic music ie Andrew “Drew” Taggart and Alex Pall plan to hold a concert in space in 2024.
– We have always dreamed of going to space, Taggart and Pall reveal to the public.
The purpose of the DJ duo is to perform at the edge of space. They plan to perform their concert in a pressurized capsule, the purpose of which is to attach to a balloon in the stratosphere, i.e. the upper atmosphere.
For a challenging and special mission, Taggart and Pall collaborate with a company focused on space tourism. They are sent on the company’s inaugural flight with scientists and engineers into space, where they perform their concert.
– We are excited to work together to get this opportunity and experience, the duo says in their official statement.
They hope they can inspire artists in future projects, be they on earth or in space. The duo wants to be the pioneers of creativity with their historical take.

– The opportunity to reach The Chainsmokers’ audience through Alex and Drew’s work also promotes our mission. It’s something I’m personally inspired and excited about, Director of World View Space Tourism Ryan Hartman comment on the upcoming trip.
According to the manager organizing the concert tour, the duo’s music reaches different ages and different groups. He thinks The Chainsmokers are a passionate band about their music and art. That is why they have been selected for cooperation.
Formerly a musician Paul McCartney set a Guinness World Record when his concert was broadcast live into space. He made the so-called “wake-up call” to the International Space Center from his concert in Anaheim in 2005.
Later, singer Lady Gaga is claimed to be the first artist to perform outside the atmosphere. However, the rumors have not been confirmed.
