– But I understood that there was also a lot wrong with him, Davis states in the new documentary.

The authorities suspected and followed Webster, who worked as a nurse, for several years before he was convicted in 2011. The documentary series goes through the case in detail and reveals, among other things, that more than 20 detectives from several continents were involved in the investigations. They collected over a thousand witness statements. More than 90 search warrants were issued.

One peculiar feature of the investigations was that the police approached Webster’s new female friend. The authorities had a strong suspicion that Simone Banarjee was possibly in danger of death. At the time, Webster was on the loose and not even being charged with anything yet. However, according to the documentary, Banarjee wanted to make it clear that she was dating a man with a violent past who was actually still married to another woman. Webster and Banarjee planned their wedding.

– It couldn’t be the same man I loved, Banarjee recalls her first reaction to the letter.

After receiving the alarming information, Banarjee returned to the home she and Webster shared. Webster was waiting for him there. Banarjee told the man about the letter and the meeting with the police. As a result, Webster took the car and disappeared from the police radar for a long time. Banarjee was allowed to keep his life.

The documentary also features the voice of a criminologist David Wilson, which describes Webster as a narcissist and psychopath. Because of these traits, Webster also lied about having leukemia, epilepsy and a brain tumor, according to Wilson.
