Buurtschap Poteind is the winner of the Bloemencorso in Zundert, with their ‘Nanook’ car. On a sun-drenched Sunday, this was the most beautiful car. Twenty hamlets took part in the imposing parade. In 1951, the hamlet took off for the last time with the profit, so that’s a big reason to party now. The jury awarded them with 628 points. The hamlet also won the public award. Nanook, according to an Eskimo myth, was the “master of the polar bears and a hunting god.”
The hamlets of Achtmaal and Klein-Zundert won the second and third prize respectively.
Twenty hamlets have tapped millions of dahlias in recent days, each of them beautiful wagons with the most diverse designs. Hundreds of volunteers have been working on it all summer
For example, the elderly often maintain the fields where the dahlias are grown and the younger ones mainly help build the wagons. Tapping the dahlias can only be done at the very last moment. A nail then goes through the flower with which it is then nailed to the car.
The Zundert flower parade is the largest in the world and the standard is high. The flower parade has been bringing people from all over the country to Zundert for more than eighty years.
The creations can be admired (for a fee) on the exhibition grounds for another two days.
