The Westhoekwolf strikes again in Kruiskerke
The Westhoekwolf has been walking around in West Flanders for several weeks. In the nights of June 6 to 8, the animal made new victims. In a meadow in Kruisekerke-Ruiselede, three ewes, female sheep, were bitten to death. The animals come from the company T’Gareelke from Kanegem.
According to Jan Loos of Welkom Wolf, it is inevitable that it concerns the Westhoek wolf: “We were able to follow that wolf when it covered the entire route from Oostkamp to Ruiselede-Wingene-Aalter. It did not let itself go for a week until now. In principle, the area is not big enough for him to stay there, but he finds enough food so he can camp there for weeks if it is really necessary.”
Observations are very welcome
The chance that the wolf settles there permanently seems small. People with cattle are afraid to wait and see what the wolf will do next. “On the Welcome Wolf site you will find a detailed explanation of what to do against an attack by a wolf.”
