As with his first three mixtapes, The Weeknd wants to make his final three albums a trilogy. He’s still missing one thing and he wants to work on it now. Together with his records AFTER HOURS and DAWN FM, it will then form the final trio and herald the end of the current The Weeknd era of his career. But what happens next?
It should end as it began
The Weeknd’s first compilation album was released in 2012 and collected his first three works HOUSE OF BALLOONS, THURSDAY and ECHOS OF SILENCE. Twelve years later he is now teasing the final LP in one Instagram-Contribution. In a slideshow, he shows the covers of his two most recent works and a third, so far black, with a question mark in the middle and the typical warning for parents due to explicit texts and the like.

What comes after The Weeknd?
Back in May 2023, The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, commented on his musical future and why the current era will soon come to an end. In an interview with the “W Magazine“ He said: “There comes a point and a time when I get ready to close The Weeknd chapter. I’ll continue to make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will too. Sometime. I’m definitely trying to shed this skin and be reborn. The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd. This is something I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.”
This point now seems to have been reached. It is not yet clear when the new record can be expected and what exactly we can expect from it.
