The week of Drenthe: In addition to fireworks, also crisis emergency shelter and mountain biking

More than 1000 mountain bikers participated this week in the Drenthe 200, a mountain bike race across the province. The distance can be guessed: 200 kilometers.

It was a tough edition with lots of rain and wind. The match was won by Tim Steenge, in almost 7.5 hours. “It was a heroic journey,” says Smeenge after his victory. “Even the mountain bike trails, which often remain reasonably good, were now very bad.”

Meanwhile, the police warned this week about scammers who are after debit cards and bank details. Especially in North Drenthe, the number of reports has increased considerably recently.

And in Alteveer, about 40 asylum seekers will be accommodated in the Prins Willem Alexander farm from mid-January. The farm serves as a temporary crisis emergency shelter until April 1, 2023.
