The Spanish royal family has decided to increase its transparency. The decision is based on the influence of the previous king, Juan Carlosinsuspected corruption.
The assets of his son, the current King Felipe VI, 54, have now been revealed for the first time.
Felipe is said to have personal assets of almost EUR 2.6 million, exactly EUR 2,573,392.80.
Most of Felipe’s assets are in bank accounts and mutual funds.
The king’s art collection and valuables are estimated to be worth around € 300,000.
In the future, the transparency, accountability and efficiency of the Royal Chamber will be further enhanced by a government decree due to be adopted this week.
Corruption investigations into Juan Carlos were closed last March. The accused ex-king is now living in exile on the luxury island of Zaya Nurai off Abu Dhabi.
